I’m Eduard Yaco, a Filipino photographer and visual artist based in the United Arab Emirates.

Photography has been a big part of my life for more than a decade. What started as an interest eventually became my profession and, somewhere along the way, something much more personal.

I’ve worked in different areas of photography, from product and jewelry to portraits, fashion, food, interiors, and e-commerce. I’ve spent years working in studios, leading creative teams, teaching photography, and constantly learning the technical side of the craft.

But some of the photographs that mean the most to me were made when nobody was paying me to take them.

Outside of work, I simply enjoy walking with a camera and paying attention. I’m drawn to ordinary people, streets, landscapes, interesting light, and small moments that are easy to miss. I don't always go out looking for a particular photograph. Sometimes I just want to see what happens.

My personal work has led to projects such as Puerto Galera Through My Eyes and Gunita. Puerto Galera is my hometown, so photographing it has always felt different. I know the places, the people, and many of the stories behind what I photograph. Over the years, documenting home has become less about making beautiful pictures and more about preserving pieces of a place that continues to change.

Commercial and personal photography are very different worlds, but I enjoy both. Working professionally has taught me to be disciplined, consistent, and attentive to details. Personal work gives me the freedom to slow down, observe, experiment, and photograph simply because something catches my eye.

Even after all these years, I don't feel like I've figured photography out. And maybe that's one of the reasons I still enjoy it.

There is always something new to learn, something I haven't noticed before, and another reason to pick up the camera.
